shizè
design: Setsu & Shinobu Ito
Developed in partnership with Hands on Design.
A woven wicker container with an organic, asymmetrical form, and a plate covered in leather.
Like a big rock sitting on furnishings in the home, this container has a soft, organic form. And it plays with the contrast between the ample size of the woven wicker part and the leather-clad plate that rests on the rim of the vessel. Complex in the making due to the asymmetrical form, and for the so called “passate morte”, passages where the strand does not complete its circuit.
“The two centerpieces draw their inspiration from Nature. The irregular shape of Shizè comes from the stones found in rivers; Mawa, narrow at the base and wider towards the top, borrows its features from a flower in all its splendor.”
