CARTECA
Carteca Scuola d'intreccio (i.e. weaving school) was founded in 2019 by the artisans of the Mogliano district with the aim to hand down the art of wicker weaving to the new generations.
The artisans in the business and those who have been make available to the students not only their technical knowledge but above all the values and intangible elements that have been built in two hundred years of tradition marking the work of the craftsman as a bearer of art and beauty.
The relationship between students and masters is one to one with the method of the ancient workshops: a transfer of the basic technique and testing of different materials.
Over the years Carteca has organized over 10 sessions attended by about 100 young people, many of whom, thanks to the artisans’ report, have decided to make this art their work.
Carteca holds the great value of putting together different artisan experiences on the plate and is not the expression of a single company, it is a forging of ideas, relationships and values.
The very idea of Bottega intreccio was born together with Carteca and Bottega constantly supports the association through its path of values and service to the territory.
Special editions at Scuola Intreccio include those with the IED of Rome in which young designers were students for a day and the one with the SPRAR of Fermo (protection system for asylum seekers and refugees).
During this last project, 10 boys from all over the world visited the district on a day of open workshops, 6 decided to face the path of the school and 4 of them are doing the internship at the workshops to be hired. An interweaving of traditions and cultures, starting from the personal inclinations of these young adults, put at the service of well-made craftsmanship.
